Easter Weekend - "Why an Empty Tomb?" (Luke 24:1-12)
Why an empty tomb? The answer seems obvious. Jesus is risen. But that's not really an answer. Yes, Jesus is risen, but he's not waiting for the disciples to arrive at the tomb. Everyone who goes to the tomb finds it empty.
Luke’s gospel uniquely explores why the tomb is empty by including words spoken by the angels that are not included in the other gospels. The answer raises other penetrating questions. The answers to these questions offer hope to saints who sin, to skeptics who search, and to lapsed Christians who long to come back to God.
Come, worship with us this Easter, and explore the questions and answers raised by the empty tomb.
