Here are some comments from starters and veterans.

Starters

I’ve never considered myself to be a religious person, but this series helped me to understand God and his message. I’m now ready to let Him be a part of my life.

This was a great way to learn about the Story of God. Very helpful to someone who really never studied the Bible.

Veterans

I was a child that grew up in a Christian home and went to a Christian school. As I have grown away from God in my adult years, I have always been embarrassed that my Christian life needs to start at step one. This series has given me the opportunity to restart my Christian adventure. I have learned more in the last 7 weeks than I had all my growing up years.

Impact was HUGE! So many ah-ha moments and dots connected. I’ve believed in God for 40 yrs—but it was more blind faith—now I have Scripture supporting it and the concept of a personal relationship makes so much more sense.

I have been studying the Bible for more than 40 years. This helped me to see better than ever how the Old Testament taught about Jesus’ death and resurrection, how everything fit together.

We took a survey on the last week of the series and here's what you reported to me.

  • 63% took in every scene of The Story of God in one way or another (through the messages, the small group or the reading guide).
  • 50% took in every message in way or another (on the weekend or via the internet).
  • 26% have or will complete the 40-Day Journey Reading Guide.

I'll be promoting the Reading Guide again in the fall or new year to give people a chance to experience it. I really think that piece is the key to getting the framework down for how the Bible is organized and how it communicates the Story of God. Yes, it's challenging, but it is much less challenging than reading the whole Bible in a year (it pales in comparison). I just need to set up appropriate expectations better next time. And I don't think stretching it out longer is a good idea because it makes it harder to get the framework. It becomes too focused on the trees and misses the forest.

Some shared personal information on how the series is impacting them in their life situation. I won't include these, but they blessed me in a big way.
