Theology Resources for Families with Younger Kids
This is the post I referred to in my sermon today.
As I said before we started the series, I think Emblems of the Infinite King is a great resource not only for kids 10 and older but for the parents of younger kids to build their theological fluency.
But what about theology for younger children? Here a few places to start (alongside establishing your kids in the story of God with books like Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name by Sally Lloyd-Jones and The Gospel Story Bible: Discovering Jesus in the Old and New Testaments by Marty Machowski):
Read “Indoctrinate Your Kids? Yes!” and “Someone Will Catechize Your Kids in 2021. Don’t Outsource It.” The second article will introduce you to some additional resources.
The Ology: Ancient Truths Ever New by Marty Machowski is a systematic theology for younger children.
For a deeper dive and practical steps, read and begin applying Family Discipleship: Leading Your Home through Time, Moments, and Milestones by Matt Chandler and Adam Griffin. You should be hearing more from our Family Ministry regarding this book in the coming months.
