"You make me want to be a better man."
Okay, that line, from one of my all-time rom-com favorites, came to mind when I thought about communicating with you how important it is for you to complete the Five Oaks annual survey.
What?!?!!!
I’m not sure it completely fits, but hearing from you each year has made our staff and non-staff staff leaders better leaders. And that means it’s made us a better church.
Some examples?
We saw a dramatic turnaround in one of our core ministries because of changes implemented as a result of the survey.
In another ministry, we saw a consistent theme: “We just don’t know what’s going on.” Those were parents of one particular sub-ministry. The leader of that ministry began to communicate better and it made a huge difference on how those parents felt about that ministry the next year.
Do you remember GroupLife. Some people liked it. Lots of people disliked it and didn’t want to use it. So we changed it. The changes resulted in developing our DailyLife devotional (that has high usage) and the reflection questions for small groups in the outline.
Other examples of how this has helped get a bit too personal for a blog post, but as leaders we’ve all made changes and adjustments thanks to your feedback.
So, next week, when you get the email for the survey, please complete it. It really does make a difference.
Now for that clip. Brings a tear to my eye every time. And I’m not kidding.
