This is Us
We are the church, whether we are gathered or scattered--each one of us, a part of the body of Christ, wherever we go, whatever we do.
So, where can you find us, and what are we doing?
Five Oakers Adam and Stacy Steiner and their family hasn’t been at Five Oaks for long, but you may have seen Adam playing electric guitar on the worship team…barefoot. They’ve also jumped into our adoption ministry group because it’s matches their passion. They have applied to adopt a sibling group from Haiti, but that takes several years. While they wait, they’ve signed up with Safe Families. Two or three times a month they head to Jeremiah House to babysit for a single mom who lives there with her kids. Their willingness to babysit helps that mom have evening time to study for her classes. Adam also helps her with her math homework via video chat.
Stacy says, “As far as our adoption journey goes, God put that in our hearts long ago. We have several adopted family members so for us, adoption feels like such a normal way to create a family. There was no doubting, just constantly asking the Lord, when can we start? The biggest barrier for adoption was the cost. We put our trust in the Lord and he has provided in huge ways! We sold property, received 3 grants and received donations from friends, family and strangers! I have been amazed at how he has provided! There is a whole community of adoptive families at Five Oaks Church willing to come alongside us and guide us.”
