This is Us
We are the church, whether we are gathered or scattered--each one of us, a part of the body of Christ, wherever we go, whatever we do.
So, where can you find us, and what are we doing?
Between all of you who gave to the Kids Hope Giving Tree and the great work of our students, let me just tell you how you blessed kids at Woodbury Elementary School:
Over 100 tags were taken from the Giving Tree and returned with gifts and donations
20 families received $25 gift cards to help with holiday expenses
The elementary age kids of those 20 families received a Christmas gift
10 students received snow clothes
Woodbury Elementary has more than 100 students on free-and-reduced lunch. each of those students will receive about $5 into their snack accounts to purchase snacks at school, something that they are often unable to do.
More than $1000 will be given to the lunch program to fund lunch accounts for students from financially struggling families. (These are families that don't qualify for free-and-reduced lunches but are on the edge and having trouble keeping up.) $15 provides hot lunches for one student for one week. If a student doesn't have money in his/her lunch account he/she gets a cheese sandwich that day.
Judy Visness, our Kids Hope Director, wrote: βIt's been a blast for the mentors to give their mentees the gifts made and purchased by our middle and high school students. I'm really proud of our Five Oaks students for their investment in the opportunity to bless the kids in the KHUSA program. And I'm grateful to be part of a church family that responds so generously when they see a need in their community.β
