“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)
Teach us to number our days is a way of saying, “Teach us to realize how short our life really is so that we live smarter, better lives.”
Of course, realizing just how short life really is can lead to depression or to an all-out pursuit of pleasure or power.
But not within the context of the story of Psalm 90 and the Story of God.
In that context we see numbering our days will help us gain a heart of wisdom.
Do you want a heart of wisdom? I do!
And in this Psalm and verse we can see clear, practical, and profound ways we can better influence the next generation to love God and follow him wholeheartedly.
We’ll actually spend these last two weeks of our Phase Series exploring the Psalm and the practical implications for parents and all influencers.
It’s just a phase, so don’t miss it, right? This series is all about how not to miss it.
Do you know someone who is struggling in their parenting? Or someone vitally interested in family but far from God? These two sermons will speak directly to their hearts and minds.
Send them the links after we publish them online or prayerfully consider inviting them to the worship service.
