How Jesus Restores You When You Fail

I’m not talking about the kind of failure that comes form taking a risk, giving it our best try, and coming up short.

I’m talking about how Jesus restores us from the kind of failure where we blow it, and there’s no one to blame but ourselves.

The disciple Peter failed in a big way, and there was no one else he could blame but himself.

In this weekend’s passage we see how Jesus compassionately, skillfully, and powerfully restores Peter after his big failure.

Jesus never says anything like, “I’m restoring you.”

He doesn’t say, “I forgive you for denying me.”

What he does is more powerful.

And what he does serves as an incredible metaphor for how Jesus restores us.
