10 Tweets

Here’s last weekend’s sermon in 10 Tweets, “Sent” (2 Samuel 11:1–12:15), The David Story: Finding Strength in God 5824384001_164ac20e50_o

1/ What happens in 1 Sam 11 is probably much worse than you believe. What happens in 12 is much greater than you'll ever know.

2/ David stayed back… The point is that David is now very powerful. That’s his greatest vulnerability.

3/ Key words: "sent" & "take"

4/ David SENT  & TOOK Eliam's daughter, Uriah's wife.

5/ David's sense of absolute power is an illusion. Bathsheba SENT a message to David, "I am pregnant."

6/ What's the one thing he wants Uriah to do? Go down. What's the one thing he won't do? Go down.

7/ "A drunk Uriah has more integrity than a sober David."

8/ "Don't let this seem evil in your eyes" vs. "It was evil in God's eyes"

9/ David confesses. God forgives. The consequences linger. But a day is coming when God will wipe out the bad consequences of our sins.

10/ Angry he's forgiven? Then you think you're better than him. Relieved? Then you have the opportunity to be forgiven as David was.
