Tuesday Memo

Hi Five Oakers,

I normally look back at the weekend on Tuesday, but I'll leave that for tomorrow. Just four things I want to share with you today.

#1- The Miles 4 Meals team is up to a little over $37,000 toward the $110,000 goal. They are down to two due to injuries and exhaustion (I would not have made it through the first day). Check out this article on the team from the Journal Advocate newspaper in Colorado.

#2- 170 backpacks were delivered today to the Karen Organization of MN!!! The first picture is of the staff praying over the bags.

#3- I just finished writing the second edition of The Story of God: A 40-Day Guided Journey through the Bible. The book went from 113 to 197 pages with only one additional chapter, so I need to do some trimming. This edition includes a focus on how we grow spiritually in the current chapter of God's story. We will be using this book in our fall trimester small groups so I have to finish my edits pronto.

#4- Today only (August 28) you can pick up a free copy of the Kindle edition of And Then I Had Teenagers by Susan Alexander Yates here. I have not read it but we really enjoyed reading her earlier book (And Then I Had Kids) when our kids were younger. Sorry to those of you who get this post via email on Wednesday. Bummer.
