Open to Change
I was reading a post by Craig Groeschel about creating a culture of change in churches. This line stood out to me and got me thinking about my own spiritual life and walk with God:
...the reward? Being able to respond to God’s leading quickly and without hesitation.
I'm a creature of routine. One of the things I didn't like about my study break was the break from routine. (I know, I'm crazy.) Routines can be our friends and are needed in life. Routines help us establish important disciplines. But routines without an openness to change and without a culture of change in our hearts can also keep us from being open to God's leading and God's adventures.
One of the results of my break is a change in some of my routines: I'm taking a different day off, I'm setting up different meeting times, I'm returning to some old routines from a couple of years ago. But I also want my heart to be open to God's leading in a more surrendered way. I believe I need to develop a culture of change in my heart so that I can hear God and respond to his leadings without hesitation. Not sure how to do that except to pray for it, to expect him to act and to respond to his initiatives.
