Prodigal God

One of the best books I've read in a long time is Prodigal God by Timothy Keller. It's based on the parable of the Prodigal Son. We're going to launch a series on the same topic August 1/2 weekend. I'm very excited. I think it will be deeply spiritually impacting for all of us. Here's the promo from this week's worship program:

This series explores the depths of Jesus’ most popular—and least understood—parable. This parable, best known as the “The Prodigal Son,” is actually about two wayward sons—one religious and the other irreligious—and the radical, seemingly reckless (i.e., prodigal) love of their father. This parable gets to the heart of Jesus’ message. It shows that the gospel is neither religion nor irreligion, but something else entirely.
