Leadership Community Leader Song

Here's the song David sang last weekend at Leadership Community to celebrate leaders. It was written by Melissa Gafford and it's to the tune of "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay. The band and David did a great job with it. This is one of the most fun aspects of Leadership Community.

Viva la Volunteer

I used to come in late and ignore the collection plate.
Now on the weekends I volunteer fifty-two weeks of the church year.

I used to leave my kids and feel the fear in their teacher's eyes.
Listen as the kids would sing all their songs about God; their songs for the King.

That minute I felt the call to help out and have a ball.
And I discovered that the children's wing was a treehouse of fun; a treehouse of zing.

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing, and those heavenly choirs are singing.
Ev-ry time that I volunteer, I find it tough but I persevere.
For some reason I can't explain,
Once I got there the children and parents all stood and cheered.
And that was when I volunteered.

I used to throw my garbage on the floor, grab some mints, and head out the door.
Spilling coffee and just having fun, only I didn't know what I had done.

Then one day my conscience came, I saw my actions were so lame.
First Impressions was a perfect fit; to Ashley Perry I will always submit.

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing, and those heavenly choirs are singing.
Ev-ry time that I volunteer I find it tough but I persevere.
For some reason I can't explain, I know Saint Peter will call my name.
Heaven will stand and cheer all because I volunteered.

Oh- Oh-Oh- Oh-Oh……

I hear Jersualem bells a ringing, and those heavenly choirs are singing
Ev-ry time that I volunteer, I find it tough but I persevere
For some reason I can’t explain, I know Saint Peter will call my name
Heaven will stand and cheer all because I volunteered.
