Great Timing

Ww1 Got promo material the other day for a new movie premiering in theaters February 23--"Amazing Grace." It's the story of William Wilberforce, a British Parlimintarian and evangelical believer from the early 1800's who crusaded to end the slave trade in the British empire. (More on Wilberforce in other posts.)

The trailer looks really good. I'm hopeful enough to throw my hat into the ring and use it during our "U 2 Can Rock the World Series." This dovetails so well with what we're doing in that series. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

  • Wilberforce Weekend: We'll buy a block of tickets on opening night, February 23, and make it an all-church event. We'll show the trailer to build interest.
  • Group Life study: We've purchased the rights to use a Bible study designed by Christianity Today that is about bringing about social change in the world and the work of Wilberforce. Our writers will need to do some adapting, but I'm very excited about this study.
