Infantile, Immature, Self-centered Christians

Every once in a while I get an email or have a conversation that leaves me stunned. Stunned by the level of spiritual immaturity or self-centeredness. It discourages me. Then I remember, or someone reminds me, that we (Christians, churches, pastors) are in the business of growing people into maturity, not gathering a bevy of spiritual giants. Why is my first response one of discouragement or frustration? Because I’m an infantile, immature, self-centered Christian still growing in the gospel, learning to be more like Christ.

Back in the Building

On Tuesday, June 23, our staff gathered in the gym for our weekly all-staff meeting. This is significant to us  because it’s the first time we had all been in the building together since March 12. Since so much of what we do involves teams and collaboration between teams, being in the same space is so helpful. After over three months of Zooming, it was a welcomed change of pace to meet in person again. Even though we’re not back in the building full-time yet as a staff, and we still have more Zoom in our future!, we celebrated the fact that we can do it and that we have the space to spread out!
