This is Us

We are the church, whether we are gathered or scattered--each one of us, a part of the body of Christ, wherever we go, whatever we do.

So, where can you find us, and what are we doing?

So much of the planning in the Worship Ministry happens behind the scenes, and this is someone who contributes to it significantly. Aimee has been part of the Five Oaks family for over 15 years, and she brings many unique gifts to our staff. One of those gifts is crafting meaningful services like Advent. This year we saw the introduction of a children's choir, which included over 40 kids! If you attended the Advent services you know how she and her team crafted services that filled our hearts with awe, wonder, and the peace of God.

I’ve talked a bit lately about the importance of slowing down when reading Scripture. Here’s a great idea from the article. To read the rest of the article, go here.

Write a response to every verse [or paragraph] you read.

There’s nothing like writing to slow you down and make you actually think about what you’re reading. If you force yourself to respond in some way, be it a comment, a question, a connection to another passage, a potential personal application or even a strong expression of frustration, writing your direct response to what you read makes it much harder to walk away from reading your Bible without engaging God personally. I’ve had many days where I didn’t have a single thought about a particular verse, but forcing myself to write something back to God about it led my mind and heart to unexpected conviction, comfort, or worship. …Writing to the Lord can be a powerful help in bringing your heart into his presence.
