This is Us

We are the church, whether we are gathered or scattered--each one of us, a part of the body of Christ, wherever we go, whatever we do.

So, where can you find us, and what are we doing?

This one is different. It’s from our Haitian ministry partners. They are one of us!

It’s a powerful story and testament to the power of a well. So many in our congregation have not only gone and worked in Haiti but also have made a great impact with World Vision through wells.

We drove around a Haitian town about two hours north of the orphanage. We were checking in on some of the wells our partners had helped us drill to ensure they were still functional and providing clean water.

At one of the newer wells we were quickly met with a growing group from the community when one mother stepped forward and asked if she could share something with us. Through an interpreter she shared the following:

“Thank you in the name of the community for the gift of the well. We couldn't thank you enough. It is like the gift of salvation, something we cannot pay back. Every night our children had to go far away to get water. Many of our daughters are coming back raped and some are pregnant. It is a dangerous route. With this well we no longer have to worry about such trauma. We couldn't thank you enough, and we pray that God blesses you for what you have given us.”

The Greatest Chapter in the Bible

I’ve always named it my favorite, at least for the last 40 years or so

Then I started to discover that I wasn’t the only one who felt that way.

This chapter simply soars. It’s incredible.

It might not be your pick for the best, but I would guess that if you’ve read it, it makes your top 3.

It’s Romans 8, especially the opening verses and the last half of the chapter.

“Therefore, there is now to condemnation.”

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.”

“If God is for us, who can be against us.”

“We are more than conquerors through him who loves us.”

Yeah, that chapter.

We’re  looking at parts of that chapter this weekend.

The question we’ll explore is how you can know who you are and where you’re going.

I hope to see you there.

Do you have a friend who needs to know who they can be and where they can go? Invite them.
