Here's last weekend's sermon in 10 Tweets, "Faith"  (1 Samuel 26) in 1 Samuel series:

1/ Faith waits. Waiting requires divine imagination. What might God be up to?

2/ Waiting faith looks for signs of God at work.

3/ God’s sign for David is the spear.

4/ Do you trust God enough to look for God at work and then to see it.

5/ Corporate worship fuels our faith. It’s the fuel for the vision that sustains worship scattered.

6/ DRD-“David would have made a poor [modern] evangelical; he would never have been content with his study Bible, prayer list, & a quiet cave.”

7/ God commands what is good for us. God commands corporate worship (Heb 10:24-25; the “one anothers”)

8/ “…when attending church goes up against other things and church always gets the short end of the stick, something is wrong.”

Here's last weekend's sermon in 10 Tweets: "Friends" (1 Samuel 18:1-4; 20:1-4, 40-42; 23:15-18; 2 Samuel 1:25-26) in The David Story: Finding Strength in God (1 Samuel)

1/ Woodley: God doesn’t deliver David from the battle; instead, he sends a friend into the heat of the battle…his name is Jonathan.

2/ Jonathan helped David "find strength in God" (1 Sam 23:16)

3/ Eugene Peterson: Friendship is a much underestimated aspect of spirituality. It’s every bit as significant as prayer and fasting.

4/ Spiritual friends model wholehearted devotion to God.

5/ Long before Jonathan ever seeks out David,  he helps Jon recover from what may have been the darkest period of his life

6/ Spiritual friends willingly sacrifice for each other. What’s good for David is good for him because so deeply united in their friendship.

7/ Spiritual friends let each other in. They share their fears and their feelings.

8/ The David that faced Goliath alone and confidently is shaken by Saul’s murder attempts.

9/ Alone? Either you don't realize you're in a battle or you're not fighting God's way.
