Teacher and Five Oaks member Patti Meras has engaged her students at school in our Feed My Starving Children event through M&M tube sales. You can see that as of a couple of weeks ago they had sold 119 tubes and returned 40 filled with quarters. In addition, they have received a couple of generous, anonymous donations. As of a couple of weeks ago, her kids have provided for 3500 meals for hungry kids! And they're having a blast doing it.

Five Oaks helps Feed My Starving Children

Two thousand volunteers will package meals; cash donations welcomed

Five Oaks Community Church will host over 2,000 volunteers packaging meals for the Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) organization Thursday, March 4 through Sunday, March 7. The church is accepting financial donations for FMSC to cover the cost of the meals.

According to the FMSC Website www.fsmc.org, when the earthquake hit Haiti Jan. 12, 3 million FMSC meals were already on the ground with their Haiti-based mission partners. Since the earthquake hit, 6 million meals have been shipped to Haiti from FMSC warehouses and thousands of meals have been airlifted into Haiti. Now, 5 million additional meals are needed by March 1.

The church will shut down services for the entire weekend converting the church into a food packaging facility. Their goal is to package 400,000 meals. Those meals will feed 1,096 children for an entire year...
