Sesson 11 - "Relentless" - Bill Hybels

Spkr_bHybels_lg Hybels' last session focused on the story of Mother Teresa's relentless pursuit of her calling, especially in getting the Sisters of Charity up and running when her superiors took a long time to get it. He used an incredible video in the middle of this talk that I won't even try to describe. Just had to be there.

Highlights:

  • Do you eagerly embrace God's call.
  • Refuse God nothing.
  • After "the call," it took 16 months for her superiors to okay her move to Calcutta. Her many meetings with her supervising priest, trying to get permission, even led to rumors that she was attracted to him.
  • These times of facing obstacles and pain can serve us well for the rest of our lives.
  • Mother Teresa suffered from long spiritual dry spells when God seemed distant and uncaring. But she vowed in those times that even if she didn't feel his presence, she would still seek him and love him like he had never been loved before.
