2// Paul prays for them to be grasped, wowed and captivated by Christ’s love for them.

4// Eternal life, true joy, true fulfillment, a moral life are all produced by living in a faith-based relationship with God.

5// God produces those things for us and in us through an on-going relationship with us.

6// If you want your kids to be good, pray for them to be grasped, wowed and captivated the One who loves them so much that they can trust him with their entire lives.

8// God’s answer to this prayer can sabotage some of our other, day-to-day prayers for safety, financial security and great careers.

1// What does the gospel of grace bring? God himself. And with God, his power. ‘You’re turning from God’s help to self-help.” Are you crazy!

3// Your efforts don’t get God’s approval. You have it. Your efforts don’t change you. They can’t.

4// Your efforts are important only insofar as they are made in cooperation with God’s resurrection power at work in you.

5// God has not promised to fix everything for you here on earth. But he has promised suffering. Why are we surprised?

6// "Doesn't God want me to be happy?" "No, not like that!" Part of our suffering in this world is unfulfilled desires.
